Design of an automated system for thesis management at the CSET-DGI, Nicaragua

Abstract

This article describes the design of an automated system for managing thesis projects at the Higher Education Center for Tax Studies (CSET) of the General Revenue Directorate (DGI), with the aim of optimizing the selection, execution, and monitoring of research projects. The research is based on the interpretive paradigm with a qualitative approach, aimed at gaining a deep understanding of the subjective and contextualized experiences of the participants. The methodological design is non-experimental and descriptive, as the current conditions of the management process were observed without directly intervening in them. The study population consisted of 400 public servants from the DGI, including administrative staff, teachers, and graduates of specialization programs. The sample is non-probabilistic for convenience, selecting key informants according to predefined criteria. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews, document review, and participatory observation, which allowed for detailed information to be obtained on the project management process at the CSET. Data analysis was based on the interpretation of individual perspectives and the identification of needs for process automation. The findings highlight the need for an agile project management methodology, emphasizing the importance of automation to improve organization, transparency, and efficient monitoring of thesis work, which will contribute to strengthening the areas of the DGI that benefit from the specialization programs.
