The banana is our pine blossom

Abstract

On a recent visit to the North Zelaya region, we interviewed Comrade Ottoniel Scott, one of the members of the Miskito musical group Saumuk Raya, which in Spanish means “New Seed”. Ottoniel tells us how, while in prison, he organized the cultural group Saumuk Raya with the support of the Revolutionary Government. He also explains the reason that inspired them to make a new interpretation of the traditional song, “Banana”, their experiences and the situation they are currently facing.
