Contributions from a management model to undergraduate thesis research at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, Managua

This article proposes actions for the management of scientific research at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, Managua (UNAN-Managua), contextualized within the Carazo Regional University Center (CUR-Carazo). The proposal stems from doctoral research entitled “Management Model for Consistency Criteria in Undergraduate Thesis Research Lines at CUR-Carazo, UNAN-Managua.” It is framed within the research lines of UNAN-Managua: Education for development, which studies quality educational processes by improving educational systems, and the Organizations, Government, and National Economy line from an administrative and management perspective. The proposed research approach is mixed, employing both quantitative and qualitative techniques; the proposal is based on the theoretical framework of administrative management. Actions for management in public institutions, specifically universities, are presented, which in turn address society’s needs and contribute to the professional development of students and society as a whole. Presented are some of the proposed actions that combine strategic aspects of monitoring undergraduate thesis research to optimize resources in the management of Research Lines and to ensure compliance with the consistency criteria declared by UNAN-Managua, among which articulation stands out—namely, the integration of research, teaching, and university outreach functions, as well as the collaboration between the university, the state, and the private sector.
