Abstract

This article aims to present an improved proposal for the Sociology curriculum program that was taught during the 2007-2008 period. To develop this proposal, the elements of the program were evaluated, including content, teaching methodologies, and learning assessment, taking into account the opinions of different involved parties: students, faculty, and experts from UNAN - León and the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA). The information was gathered through surveys administered to students, interviews with professors who taught the curriculum component, and experts in the field of Sociology. It was found that out of the 23 topics covered, only 60.87% were considered important by students, while professors and experts rated them as appropriate. According to the consulted sources, the teaching methodologies need to be more aligned with the content, and in learning assessment, the skills that presented the greatest difficulties were bibliographic research (56.8%) and understanding new knowledge (56.1%).
