Education for Peace in Central America and Mexico (2016–2026): A Bibliometric Analysis
Keywords:
Central America, peace education, bibliometric indicators, Mexico, scientific output, ScopusAbstract
Peace education constitutes an expanding field whose scientific production in Central America and Mexico remains scarcely mapped. This study examines, through a descriptive bibliometric analysis, the productivity, collaboration networks, thematic structure, and theoretical foundations of this production during the period 2016–2026. A total of 470 documents indexed in Scopus were analyzed through scientific mapping with VOS viewer, after terminological normalization. The results show a steadily growing production, concentrated in 2021–2025, with Mexico as the main articulator of international co-authorship networks. The thematic structure is organized into five clusters that articulate peace education, interculturality, human rights, higher education, and historical memory, while co-citation reveals interdisciplinary theoretical foundations. The study concludes that peace education in the region has a distinctive identity, oriented towards the recognition of cultural diversity, social justice, and structural transformation.
