Abstract

The interests shown by the young people who enter the careers at the University of Oriente are influenced by gender approaches, closely linked to the influences received from their school, family and community environment. The statisticians of the results of this process in the 2018-2019 course clearly show that reality, which motivates the need to investigate the main causes that are at the base of said problems, from which the work has as objective to determine the main sociocultural factors that affect it. The work is based on studies on masculinities and their relationship with the process of choosing and entering Higher Education for young people under the current conditions. It is a descriptive research from a mixed approach, with a predominance in the qualitative. The result is to propose a set of alternative recommendations to improve understanding among young generations of facing the process of choosing university careers based on an adequate gender approach.
