Welfare State in Mexico? some reflections in the dawn of a new economic paradigm

Abstract

The Welfare State in Europe is not an unknown issue, however, in Latin American countries, with economic, political and social heterogeneities, thinking about it becomes a laboratory for social policy designers. In the case of Mexico, there are traces that indicate features of its possible orientation towards a welfare state. In contemporary times, studies reveal that there is an incipient vision on this subject, so the objective is to reflect on the possibility of reaching a Welfare State in the short or medium term. Therefore, in the manuscript an investigation is made about the literature for Mexico on the object of study. The deductive-descriptive method is used for its characterization. The findings show favourable results in the indicators, although the figures report that it is not enough to think about the consolidation of a welfare state in the short term.
