This study describes the intrinsic factors that influence the application of research methodologies in students of the International Trade career at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH). Carried out during the I PAC 2024, with a quantitative approach and descriptive design, with a population of 304, a questionnaire was applied to an intentional sample of 133 students. The results revealed a direct relationship between intrinsic factors with the performance of scientific research (81%), highlighting emotional, family and academic load; Despite the positive assessment of the learning of the research methodology as an employability competence (98%), a high perception of its application of 71% was recorded, with a limited identification of the student's role as a researcher, as well as weaknesses in the conceptualization and execution of the research process. It is concluded that among these factors that influence the application of scientific methodology, time management, access to updated information, and availability of resources predominate. In addition, the results show the existence of a pattern of relationship between intrinsic factors and academic performance in research projects, the most representative of which are emotional, family environment and academic load.
