Abstract

On December 14, 2025, it will be 180 years since the inaugural ceremony of the Society of
Entrepreneurial Genius and Good Taste was held in Tegucigalpa, an institution that later became the
Literary Academy of Tegucigalpa and later the State University of Honduras. Despite being a
transcendental event in the history of the country, the facts of how the Society was founded have
never been clarified and the main narratives are contradictory and irreconcilable with each other. In this article, historical methodology is applied to the testimonies of those involved in the founding of the National University of Honduras with the aim of clarifying chronological aspects and participation
in this event.
