Photographic exhibitions within the framework of the celebration of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages of the World declared by the United Nations

For the National Autonomous University of Honduras it is a privilege and a duty to join this initiative that seeks to be revitalized and become part of our daily lives in multicultural nations and multilingual as ours the ancestral knowledge that for millennia has been practiced and has been maintained united with the indigenous peoples, strengthening their culture and tradition. In this spirit, the efforts of the United Nations Office of Communications, the Organization of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the European Union and our University to create spaces for the dissemination of the cultural wealth of our indigenous peoples and Afro-descendants. For this, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, two rooms of the Center for Art and Culture the photography exhibitions dedicated to showing the work documentary by Raúl Agüero Vega on the town of Tolupán and by Juan Pablo Martell on the town Miskito, accompanied by his curatorial texts presented in Spanish and their translation into Tol and Miskito language. Both exhibitions featured ten photographs of each artist printed on 50 x 60-inch vinyl canvas, originals that are part of the documentary heritage that studies, guards and conserves the National University Photo Library as part of its research and liaison with Honduran society.
