This study is an educational research project developed in the Hispanic Language and Literature program at UNAN-Managua. The objective is to understand how the integrative axis influences the learning of the major professional competencies that students must put into practice in their professional lives. The target population of the study was faculty and students from three of the program's campuses: the Education, Arts, and Humanities Department, the Carazo Regional University Center, and the Chontales Regional University Center. An online survey, built on the Google Drive application on the web platform, was used as the data collection strategy. The results indicate that it is necessary to continue the comprehensive, real, and significant development of the competencies declared by the degree: the development of knowledge in didactics (although at this level didactic planning is still lacking), technology, linguistics, teamwork, research, and critical thinking, and to work more in all the professional scenarios or areas declared by the degree in the competencies: problem solving, being autonomous, and the dissemination of research carried out by teachers and students.
