Traces of fantasy in two tales by Rubén Darío

Abstract

«La Ninfa» and «La muerte de la emperatriz de la China» are part of Rubén Darío’s major work Azul….  If the poetic and modernist aspects have been already widely studied, the fantastic dimension which interferes in these tales is lacking. This study intends to establish a comparison between the two tales, the construction of which is almost the same. As it questions the relation between human being and work of art, the two narratives have sexual fantasy as a starting point.
