The author divides the works of the Salvadoran poet Roque Dalton in periods. In this text, which is a chapter of a doctoral thesis delivered to the Colegio de México, the author reviews the initial stage of Dalton's poetry, which engulfs the years 1961 and 1964, this is, starting with the publication of La ventana en el rostro and concluding with Los testimonios.
