Abstract

Introduction: Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a relatively common cause for pediatric emergency admissions. In most cases, patients respond well, allowing the arrhythmia to be controlled and reverted to sinus rhythm within a short period. However, some cases in neonates and infants with TSV do not improve with conventional treatment, even when using two or more drugs administered orally or parenterally, increasing the risk of developing ‘incessant’ tachycardia.

Cases report: This article presents three cases of difficult-to-control supraventricular tachycardia successfully treated with high-dose sotalol, demonstrating a favorable response.

Conclusion: Sotalol may represent an effective therapeutic option in neonates with supraventricular tachycardia.
