Abstract

Honduran migration in transit through Mexico incorporated a significant percentage of migrants who, despite their characteristics of vulnerability to the risks along the way, were successful in their migratory journeys. Based on the literature review and field work carried out in Tijuana, the objective of this work is to analyze the types of journeys that Honduran migrants make irregularly, or, where appropriate, with non-conventional documents to transit through Mexico, as well as examine the most relevant migration strategies used in each of them to achieve their migratory destination and minimize the risks of the journeys. The results of this work show five types of journeys through the Mexican territory that involve bringing into play different resources (personal, institutional, among others) to overcome the barriers along the way and deal with the risks.
