Abstract

The objective of this article is to show the family strategies followed by the households of three municipalities in the state of Hidalgo; Huasca de Ocampo, Pacula and Tasquillo; given the decrease in international remittances, methodologically a survey was used in the different areas of interest. Faced with the decrease in remittances, families in these places use the labor available in the family as strategies, eliminating expenses in education, recreation and infrastructure within the house (drinking water and drainage service), and only in lower proportion, some households have a business that allows them to pay for immediate expenses. These data confirm the need to create joint strategies for state and local governments to guarantee the economic security of households receiving remittances, to guide their investments for the benefit of families and places of expulsion.
