Abstract

A large number of wildfires cannot be avoided, such as those caused by nature. On the other hand, others could be avoided but due to lack of interest from most of the population, this has not been possible. This indifference is due to the lack of awareness of people about the negative consequences of wildfires in the environment and thus on Hondurans’ economy. 95 % of fires are originated by men.

Wildfires affect not only our physical environment, but also our national reality in all areas. It is therefore necessary, a massive, aggressive and constant raise of awareness in order to change the government and people’s way of thinking effectively; so that they use part of their financial and intellectual resources for protection, strength and balance of ecosystems and development.
