El ocaso de las filosofías modernas de la historia y el declive de los grandes sujetos portadores de proyectos globales cuestionan fuertemente la misma idea de direccionalidad de la historia: esta última aparece como un proceso abierto y no lineal, y preguntas sobre su sentido dejan discretamente el lugar al interés menos ambicioso por la significación de los proyectos de una pluralidad de actores que, al parecer, van construyendo el perfil aún borroso de un nuevo y policéntrico orden social
