Weaving words and a web of knowledge

Abstract

This article discusses the theoretical framework of Indigenous knowledge, aiming to determine whether UAIIN (Autonomous Indigenous Intercultural University) is incorporating ancestral wisdom into its educational model to strengthen critical thinking and initiate a process of analysis and reflection. This research exercise seeks to break with dogmatic paradigms in Higher Education. For this dialogue, several approaches from different authors were selected, and a literature review was conducted, especially of the documentation from the CRIC Organization. In the process of enriching an initial approach rooted in Nasa culture and their own language, it has been essential to share traditional wisdom with elders, based on the perspective of Indigenous peoples. Ultimately, it is argued that the educational model originates with Mother Earth, because she is the fabric and network of life, and is also communal.  The article then reflects on whether the current training process aligns with the aspirations of elders. This article is presented as a first approach to the results of the CCRISAC project “UAIIN, Eyes and More Eyes on the Path of Life, Strengthening the Networks of Nature in Education with the Wisdom of Mother Earth,” from the doctoral program in Intercultural Higher Education in Contexts of Good Living.
