Being a woman and studying engineering, a discursive review to the perspective of its protagonists

This exploratory-descriptive and qualitative-matrix study aims to identify from the discourse of engineering students, the motivations that have led them to opt for this career; who have influenced this decision and their experience with situations of discrimination in the university’s environment. The participants are students in the fields of Industrial, Electricity and Electromechanics Engineering. The compilation of information has been through interviews and analyzing the speeches’ content. The results show that the motivations to choose this career is related to the success expectation, the social value and personal and economic emancipation. Furthermore, the perception of discrimination in the university goes unnoticed by these students.
