Abstract

This article systematically reviews the profile of research methodology teachers in higher education, focusing on essential professional characteristics, training requirements, and the main challenges faced by teachers in the current aca demic context. Using a systematic approach, recent studies on teacher training and research teaching are compiled and analyzed, with the aim of identifying patterns and trends in best practices and barriers to teaching research methodology. Additionally, a theoretical approach is adopted to explore the underlying theories of research teaching, assessing how these conceptual frameworks can influence the teacher’s profile and the quality of higher education. The results show that the lack of adequate methodological training for teachers, resistance to the integration of new pedagogical technologies, and a shortage of specialized methodologists are factors that limit the effectiveness of research teaching. In conclusion, the need to train teachers in active methodologies, promote the integration of technological tools, and develop more dynamic pedagogical approaches that foster collaborative learning and critical thinking is emphasized.
