Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between territoriality and entrepreneurship to propose strategies to promote local development in the municipality of Santa Tecla. The main objective is to identify the key characteristics of local entrepreneurs and their businesses, with a focus on sustainability, the articulation between local actors and the creation of a favorable environment for entrepreneurship. The research uses a mixed methodology. On the one hand, a survey was applied to 46 entrepreneurs from urban and rural areas to obtain quantitative data on their profiles, types of ventures, and economic conditions. On the other hand, semi-structured interviews were conducted with key local actors to understand institutional support for entrepreneurship. The results show that most entrepreneurs come from the urban area and are mainly dedicated to the marketing of food and beverages. The most profitable businesses are concentrated in Parque El Principito and Paseo El Carmen. In addition, the factors that contribute to the success or failure of the ventures are identified, highlighting the importance of access to financing and the choice of marketing spaces. Finally, it is concluded that local development in Santa Tecla can be strengthened by promoting entrepreneurial autonomy, business sustainability, and greater coordination between entrepreneurs and local institutions. Specific strategies are proposed, such as the use of social networks and the optimization of commercial spaces, to enhance the success of the ventures.
