Abstract

This paper presents an innovative design methodology for IoT systems. The nine-step methodology was developed from the authors' experience in designing IoT systems in academic contexts and has proven effective in several research projects. The proposed methodology is characterized by its simplicity, making it accessible to students and researchers with no prior experience in IoT system design. Moreover, the layered approach of this methodology divides the design process into well-defined stages, facilitating project management and monitoring. This paper describes each stage of the methodology in detail, accompanied by concrete examples of its application in previous projects. This proposal aims to provide a useful resource for students and researchers who wish to efficiently develop IoT systems for academic research projects.
