Abstract

The concept of research from the etymological perspective is associated with two Latin terms: "In + vestigium"; the preposition "in" is translated as: go on the track, inquire, find out, discover; "vestigio" is translated as a trace, trace, signal. In short, investigium means going in search of something that gives a sign.
In classical dictionaries, research is defined as the realization of an activity to discover something. Both definitions present the investigative fact as a dynamic activity, which assumes a subject after a certain purpose to satisfy a certain need.
