Historical-Anthropological considerations on the Virgen de los Pobres tradition in Zacatecoluca, La Paz

Abstract

This article discusses the origin of the tradition  of Nuestra Señora de los Pobres (Our Lady of the Poor) in Zacatecoluca; it also builds its historical course and discusses the main social characters of the religious fact who were able to contribute to the beginning or foundation of the myth. There is also a reflection on its meaning and symbolic power.
