International relations students’ perception of SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption

Abstract

The international commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seeks to provide alternatives for a future of well-being for the entire population, among which highlights the SDG 12: Responsible Production and Consumption, which lacks public information and at the same time is not included in the compliance actions for the National Plan of Honduras, one of the reasons why the subject of study of this research arises, which aims to reveal the perception of the students of the International Relations career of UNITEC-Tegucigalpa on the SDG 12. The students developed the project autonomously, putting into practice research-based learning, the teacher's role was of a facilitator, an instrument was applied in Google Forms to the entire student population of the career, on that sample an exploratory-descriptive analysis was performed, it was observed that 8% do not know about the SDG 12, being an alert for the academy, taking into account the comprehensiveness of the subject oriented to development and the focus of the career towards foreign policy. It is considered that the lack of knowledge of young people is related to the lack of applicability of the SDGs in the country's educational training processes. Through the diagnosis, spaces for improvement have been identified within the university community, for the deepening of the SDGs and the proposal of actions. Highlighting the importance and the duty that the university has with its student population to create leaders with a global vision that contribute to the development of the country.
