The purpose of this article is to make visible the analytical possibilities of statistical information from primary sources that address the issue of sexual violence. Therefore, an analysis of the expressions of sexual violence in the public and private spheres was carried out, based on the information provided by the National Survey on Sexual Violence against Women, El Salvador 2019, of the General Directorate of Statistics and Censuses (DIGESTYC), today the National Statistics and Census Office (ONEC). The statistical analysis was divided into two parts: first, the development of a sociodemographic profile of women who have suffered at least one expression of sexual violence and, second, a binary logistic regression exercise to identify the risk factors that could influence a woman to suffer at least one action or expression of sexual violence. This analysis identified that adult female heads of household (between 30 and 59 years of age) are those who have experienced at least one action or expression of sexual violence in the public and private spheres, indicating that the more academic degrees they have and if they have had a job in the last 12 months, the lower the probability that female heads of household will suffer actions or expressions of sexual violence. These findings underscore the need to allocate resources for the development of surveys that provide information on sexual violence against women in the country, as they facilitate the development of more comprehensive analyses of the issue.
