Abstract

The general objective of this research is to analyze how biocultural practices contribute to the preservation of cultural and agricultural heritage in the municipality of Aracataca, Magdalena, Colombia. The study is developed using a mixed methodological approach, with a qualitative predominance, through a case study that integrates semi-structured interviews, focus groups, participant observation, and document analysis. This approach prioritizes the understanding of the sociocultural and territorial dynamics associated with bioculture. The results highlight the persistence of traditional agricultural practices, the use of native seeds, productive diversification, and the intergenerational transmission of knowledge as central elements of the local biocultural heritage. However, structural limitations related to market access, the lack of differentiated public policies, and generational renewal are identified. It is concluded that bioculture significantly influences the preservation of cultural and agricultural heritage, although its sustainability depends on strengthening short marketing circuits and greater institutional coordination.
