The study pretends to continue the development of a database in terms of damages and losses that result from natural disasters in Honduras, specifically selecting the departments of Francisco Morazán and El Paraíso as study areas, for the year 2010. This will estimate the monetary impact that is caused by natural hazards in vulnerable sectors such as the social sector (housing, health), infrastructure (roads, power, water and sewage) and the economic sector (agriculture, livestock). The information will be added to the disaster inventory system of Honduras, named DesInventar, in order to test a methodology that can assess the damage and estimate disaster losses. This information will guide rehabilitation and reconstruction plans in order to promote prevention and reduce disaster risk.
