Journal Policies

Below are the policies of the journal Science and  Technology, whose purpose is to present the journal’s policies to ensure integrity, quality, and ethics in the article publication process. These policies seek to promote the originality of content, prevent plagiarism, and ensure that articles comply with established academic and scientific standards. In addition, they aim to protect authors’ rights and maintain the confidentiality of information during the peer-review process. The policies also seek to foster transparency and good editorial conduct by establishing clear guidelines for article submission, the review process, and communication with authors.

1. Definition of the journal

The journal Ciencia y Tecnología is a biannual publication of the Institute for Applied and Technological Sciences Research (IICAT-FI-UNAH), aimed at national and international professors, researchers, and students. The objective of the journal is to disseminate scientific knowledge in the areas of applied sciences, technology, and engineering. Its content includes scientific articles, review articles, and editorials, providing a platform for the dissemination of research and advances in these fields.

2. Information services

The journal will be published biannually on its website. The journal is indexed in the following databases: Latin American Journals Online, AmeliCA, Latindex, Crossref, Lens.org, and ROAD.

3. Review and evaluation system

Articles must be submitted electronically through the CAMJOL OJS. All articles submitted for publication will undergo a double-blind peer review and evaluation process in order to guarantee both readers and authors the academic and scientific rigor of the publication. Reviewers are required to maintain the confidential nature of all information contained in the manuscripts, even if they are not published.

Article processing: Articles submitted through OJS are received. They are evaluated using plagiarism-detection software. The editorial committee decides on the relevance of each article (only original scientific articles and original scientific essays are accepted). The committee assigns the manuscripts to peer reviewers according to their discipline and field of knowledge.

Peer reviewers have a maximum of 3 weeks to complete the review; afterward, they submit the reviewed articles with one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without changes

  • Accept with minor revisions

  • Revise

  • Resubmit

  • Reject

The articles are then returned to the author so that corrections may be made, for which they will have a maximum of 3 weeks. The articles are reviewed again to verify that the corrections have been incorporated. They then move on to layout design and typesetting.

4. Open access policies

The journal Ciencia y Tecnología promotes open access to scientific research, recognizing that the dissemination of knowledge and the advances of the scientific community are of utmost importance. Based on this, the journal establishes an open access policy under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license with a Non-Commercial (NC) restriction:

Readers have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, and use the articles for non-commercial purposes, provided that proper authorship attribution is given and a link to the original source is included.

Author Rights: Authors will retain the copyright to their research and will allow the journal to publish their work under the CC BY 4.0 NC license. This allows authors to gain visibility and recognition for their academic work, while enabling other researchers to use and build upon their contributions for non-commercial purposes.

By adopting this open access policy, the Journal of Applied Sciences and Technology is committed to fostering the global dissemination of scientific research, promoting collaboration and progress in the field of applied and technological sciences.
