Sickle cell anemia is part of a group of hereditary disorders in which the red blood cells are sickle-shaped or crescent-shaped. This article describes the nursing care carried out on a patient with sickle cell anemia, applying the nursing care process (PAE) with NANDA (North American Nursing Diagnosis Association), NOC (Nursing Outcomes Classification), NIC (Nursing Interventions Classification) which shows how to promote the improvement and stabilization of the pain generated by the vaso-occlusive crisis as well as improve oxygen saturation levels to normal parameters as well as the respiratory pattern. This article presents the case of a 12-year-old patient, with a history of sickle cell anemia, the cause of the consultation in the emergency unit was abdominal pain of 3 days of evolution, the interventions carried out according to the NANDA diagnoses from the moment of admission was the work on the improvement of impaired gas exchange manifested by hypoxemia related to pain as well as acute pain manifested by facial expression of pain related to altered physiological parameter. Nursing care was essential for the improvement and restoration of the patient's health.
