Management of obstetric hemorrhage related to the Maternal Standard. Leonardo Martínez Valenzuela Hospital, 2023

Obstetric hemorrhage is one of the main causes of maternal morbidity and mortality in Honduras, the woman may present complications such as hypovolemic shock. Objective To establish the relationship between the prevention and treatment of obstetric hemorrhage by the nursing professional related to the maternal norm, Leonardo Martinez Valenzuela Hospital from April to July, 2023. Patients and Methods: quantitative, descriptive-correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional study. Universe/sample: 52 nursing professionals. Instrument: 24-question questionnaire; prior informed consent. The SPSS 20.0 IBM® program was used, using descriptive statistics for frequencies and percentages and inferential statistics for hypothesis testing. Results: 31 (59.6%) were 20-34 years old, 32 (61.5%) had work experience of 1 to 10 years, 20 (38.5%) reported that they had not received training in the Maternal Standard of Honduras, 20 (38.5%) had a low qualitative rating on knowledge of the Maternal Standard; 23 (44.2%) had a low qualitative rating o specific nursing actions in obstetric hemorrhage. Training and clinical management, initial, advanced and surgical therapeutic measures according to the Maternal Standard were significantly related to nursing actions in patients with obstetric hemorrhage, withSpearman's Rho of 1.00 (p=.0000). Conclusion: the nursing professionals of the Leonardo Martinez Hospital have a basic knowledge of the Honduran Maternal Standard, more than half have been trained and there is a direct relationship between knowledge of clinical management, initial, advanced and surgical therapeutic measures of the Honduran Maternal Standard and nursing actions in patients with obstetric hemorrhage.
