This article is contextualized within the topic of Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) in households in the department of Copán during the years 2022-2023, with the objective of describing the relationship between sociodemographic and economic factors in access to food. A quantitative and descriptive methodology was used, with all households in the department of Copán registered for the period 2022 and 2023 as the unit of analysis. Data from the Integrated Food and Nutrition Security Phase Classification (IPC) was used.
The results reveal specific demographic patterns, highlighting challenges associated with youth, migration dynamics, and life expectancy. Dependence on seasonal agricultural jobs, low wages, and the high cost of basic food baskets increase households' economic vulnerability, affecting their ability to ensure sufficient and adequate food. The findings underscore the need for public policies that promote sustainable agricultural practices that contribute to economic stability while strengthening access to quality food.
