Types of Articles Published

The Portal de la Ciencia Journal accepts the following types of articles for publication, all of which are subject to a rigorous peer-review process:

Original Research Articles
Publications that present unpublished results of scientific research in the fields of biology, physics, mathematics, microbiology, and related areas. These articles must have a high degree of originality and contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge in their field.

Each type of article aims to contribute to the exchange of knowledge among researchers and academics, promoting the continuous development of the natural and exact sciences.

Originality

Manuscripts submitted to the Portal de la Ciencia Journal must be original works that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to other scientific journals. During the peer-review process, authors agree not to submit their manuscripts to other publications until they receive the journal’s final decision.

Editorial Process, Peer Review, and Acceptance

The Portal de la Ciencia Journal bases manuscript acceptance on criteria of scientific quality, originality, thematic relevance, and importance to its audience. All manuscripts undergo an editorial process that includes preliminary evaluation, similarity review, external peer review, and a final editorial decision.

The journal uses an external double-blind peer-review system. Reviewers are specialists in the thematic area of the manuscript, external to the Editorial Committee, and evaluate submissions using a form or rubric established by the journal.

The editorial process includes the following stages:

  1. Receipt and preliminary evaluation: The editor or editorial team verifies that the manuscript aligns with the journal’s scope, complies with the author guidelines, and meets minimum conditions of scientific quality.
  2. Similarity review: All manuscripts are subjected to similarity-detection software. Manuscripts exceeding 15% similarity may be rejected or returned to the authors for correction, according to the corresponding editorial analysis.
  3. Peer review: Manuscripts that pass the previous stages are sent to at least two external reviewers. Possible decisions include: acceptance, acceptance with minor corrections, acceptance with major corrections, rejection with the option to resubmit, or definitive rejection. In the case of divergent reviews, a third evaluation may be requested.
  4. Corrections and resubmission: The corresponding author will receive the reviewers’ comments and must submit the corrected version of the manuscript. A maximum of two resubmissions will be allowed, provided that the comments have been addressed.
  5. Final decision: The final publication decision will be made by the Editorial Committee, based on the reviewers’ evaluations, compliance with editorial standards, and the manuscript’s relevance to the journal.

The journal may publish general editorial statistics annually, including the number of manuscripts received, accepted, and rejected, as well as average evaluation times. It may also publish an annual list of reviewers, with their consent, and will make visible the evaluation form or rubric used in the review process.

Open Access Policy

The Portal de la Ciencia Journal provides free and open access to all published manuscripts, based on the principle that open access to scientific research promotes greater global exchange of knowledge. Articles published in the journal are available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This permits the non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction of content in any format, without restrictions, provided that the authors and original source are properly credited.
