The purpose of this review article is to describe theoretical concepts related to virtual learning, which form the basis for the impact of virtual environments on learning. This work is the result of a critical analysis based on the imminent presence of technological advances that directly affect the educational process. The study was conducted using a qualitative and interpretive approach, through a documentary review. To this end, an analysis matrix was developed based on 17 documents published between 2019 and 2025, identified in Google Scholar, databases (Latindex, OJL), journal portals (Redalyc, Dialnet, Scielo, CAMJOL), and Latin American or university repository networks. The analysis category included virtual learning and subcategories such as virtual learning environments, educational technology, virtual platforms, and content virtualization. The findings show that virtual learning environments promote new and different ways of learning at any level of the education system, promoting quality education. It should be noted that Moodle is student-friendly, allowing for better navigation and greater interaction by applying flexible methodologies adapted to the reality of users, generating the skills demanded by 21st-century education. It is also concluded that virtual education should promote creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among students. In addition, it is essential to increase the educational offering in the virtual environment by implementing distance and dual training programs that simplify access to secondary, technical, and higher education programs.
