Abstract

Concrete highway concrete bridges are complex structures, and depending on the characteristics of the soil where they are built, they can be more susceptible to the effects of soil-structure interaction than other types of structures. Their failure can cause important economic losses and they must maintain their integrity in the face of seismic action, since the functionality of the roads depends on them. For this reason, the influence of the dynamic soil-structure interaction in a concrete bridge of Soviet-Cuban typology is determined, considering the soil properties from the ballast coefficient. With the application of a set of theoretical, empirical and statistical research methods, it is found that, from the geotechnical and structural point of view, the bridge becomes more vulnerable to seismic loads when considering the soil-structure interaction.
