The formation of religious plurality in Mexico (1810-2010)

Abstract

The rearrangement of religious practices and beliefs is one of the most significant social transformations of the last century in Mexico. Although the majority of its population did not cease to be Catholic, it became a religiously diversified society. This was the product of several socio-political events derived from the Independence, which accelerated during the Reform, the Porfirian, revolutionary, post-revolutionary and contemporary periods, which have been a factor of change in the national territory. It is precisely these events that will allow us to frame, in a succinct manner, the formation of religious plurality in Mexico.
