DETERMINACIÓN MULTIDIMENSIONAL DE VULNERABILIDAD EDUCATIVA MUNICIPAL DEL ESTADO DE GUERRERO, MÉXICO
Keywords:
Education, vulnerability, regional inequalityAbstract
Vulnerability can be defined as the deprivation of available assets for individuals and households. However, it is a concept with multiple facets from diverse disciplines. Furthermore, it allows us to address inequalities, their dynamics, and to represent their heterogeneity at the territorial level. In this sense, social conditions, along with adequate infrastructure, can be decisive for the improved educational development of individuals and social groups. This study aims to determine an educational vulnerability index at the municipal level for the state of Guerrero. Using census data from INEGI (the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography) for the year 2020, ten indicators related to physical, social, and educational capital were structured. Initial numerical indicators were defined through factor analysis; subsequently, the Mean Index Value method was applied to determine vulnerability levels, resulting in a municipal categorization. Spatial distribution trends were identified using GIS tools. The expectation is to find a strong relationship between vulnerability and other factors associated with marginalization, especially in socially disadvantaged regions such as La Montaña and Tierra Caliente. It is hoped that this will contribute to better decision-making by the state government in its actions to improve the well-being of the population.
