¿Por qué fracasó la política exterior de la segunda administración de Reagan hacia El Salvador?

La política exterior de la segunda administración de Ronald Reagan hacia El Salvador no demostró cambios substanciales. En otras palabras, el énfasis en aplicar una solución militar a un problema de naturaleza diferente fue una constante. Aún más, su obsesión militarista se reflejó en las componendas que logró con algunos jefes de Estado, para justificar su política exterior hacia El Salvador. La importancia de este artículo radica en demostrar que la big stick policy (política del garrote) implementada por antecesores de Reagan se mantuvo, pero con una retórica diferente. Reagan violó leyes internacionales y algunas de su país. En su opinión, un Gobierno de El Salvador (GOES) violador de los derechos humanos, pero sumiso a los EE. UU., siempre sería mucho mejor que un Gobierno comunista. Administraciones anteriores habían hecho lo mismo que Reagan.
